What's next - snow? We celebrate the Taiwan Lantern Festival 2012 (front cover) this month and you can check out what's happening around the island on pages 10 ~ 12. Check out page 30 for the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks celebrations in Tainan.

As we usher in the New Year of 2012, let us not forget where we have been and where we are going. This Month in Taiwan Magazine, wishes everyone a Happy Chinese New Year of the Dragon with prosperity, happiness, and of course friendship.

Happy Holidays! Welcome to the last month of 2011. Christmas falls on December 25th and New Year's Eve on the 31st. This month we feature a few special places celebrating the holidays. Taipei will have a New Year's Eve Countdown Party - see page 61 for more info. Page 18 & 19 shows how you can have a Joyful Tamsui Christmas from December 3~24. Page 59 has a list of  holiday celebrations in Taichung, Cingjing, and Alishan.  We also have the Crowne Plaza E-Da World in southern Taiwan promising the most magnificent fireworks show on the island along with Year's-end special accommodation and party packages on page 62. For business traveler's, our back cover features the Master Inn & Business Center's Grand Opening in December and a whole lot more. We at This Month in Taiwan Magazine wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and an extremely Happy New Year!

The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has an "unlimited travel-pass", which entitles you to travel all over Taiwan in an unlimited number of trips for 3 whole days - at a great price, please check out page 10 & 11 (cover story) for more information about this and special "Formosa Holidays" travel bargains.  The Sun Moon Lake 2011 Music Festival is in full swing and chock-full-of-fun until November 19th, please check out page 25 for more information. Page 54 has special November sports events including tennis, bicycling, concept motor bikes, and  the Taroko Gorge Marathon. The Penghu Wind Chime Festival is still goin' on and you can exchange your paid adult ticket for a limited-edition Penghu figurine! This month marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the R.O.C. with celebrations throughout the island. Please check out our article on page 54 for a brief description. Taiwan Retrocession Day appears on the 25th of October, which celebrates the release of Taiwan from the Japanese Empire during World War II. You can view a brief history of this event on page 56. So get ready, you're in for a month of celebrations. Happy Birthday ROC!

Fall is in the air and temperatures should start to cool down slightly. Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is celebrated this month and lands on September 12th, page 37, (we apologize for the typo in which we stated the 22nd). We also have the new 2012 Taipei International Trade Show schedule on page 56. Enjoy your moon cakes!

Man its a hot one! As summer continues to sizzle in Taiwan, check out page 54. Here we list special events for August from the National Palace Museum,  National Museum of History, National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, and The National Concert Hall. The National Concert Hall hosts a "Summer Jazz Session" that promises to be one of the best in Taipei History! Enjoy the summer!
